About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Editor-in-Chief to lead our premier journal, Molecular Cell. As the chief editorial officer, you will be responsible for setting the scientific scope and determining the editorial direction of the journal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to further refine and expand the journal's focus
  • Build and lead a team of scientific editors to ensure the quality and quantity of research articles published
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the advisory board and the broader molecular biology research community
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including editorial workflows, production, and marketing
  • Collaborate with other editorial teams at Elsevier to contribute to the overall publishing strategy

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in any area of molecular biology
  • At least 5 years of full-time editorial experience
  • Broad interest across the full spectrum of molecular biology research
  • Established network with the molecular biology research community
  • Strong project and people management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in engaging with the scientific community
