SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and motivated SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our client schools in Washington. As a SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in achieving their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students in the classroom, particularly those with SEN needs, to ensure they receive the necessary support to succeed.
  • Assist teachers in preparing lessons and adapting them to meet the needs of students with SEN, promoting inclusive learning environments.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students to help them develop their independence, social skills, and self-confidence.
  • Help implement behaviour management strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student well-being.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff members to support the educational and emotional development of students, ensuring a collaborative approach to SEN support.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or a relevant field is necessary to demonstrate a strong foundation in SEN support.
  • Experience working with children, ideally in an SEN environment, is required to showcase your ability to adapt to diverse needs.
  • Solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices is essential to ensure the well-being of students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN are essential qualities for this role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff are crucial for effective SEN support.
  • Flexibility and adaptability are necessary to address the needs of the school and students, ensuring a responsive approach to SEN support.
