Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Fabricator - Plater to join our team at BAE Systems. As a Fabricator - Plater, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing parts of a ship, with the aim of delivering the very best product possible to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of ship components.
  • Marking and cutting materials using various methods, including oxy-fuel gas cutting and hand grinding.
  • Assembling and fitting ship structures, including shells, decks, bulkheads, frames, and longitudinal.
  • Fabricating and assembling ship items, such as seats, ladders, false flooring, and panels.
  • Outfitting ships with items, including hatches, watertight doors, equipment seats, and false flooring.
  • Forming materials using machine tools, including rolling, flanging, and cutting machines.
  • Preparing ships for float-off and sea trials.

Requirements:

  • Trade papers, such as formal modern apprenticeship, and ability to provide papers.
  • Current knowledge and experience in fabrication.
  • Clear understanding of SHE risks awareness.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Safety certification, including SHE induction, COSHH awareness, and working at height.
