Job Title: Gun Fitter

The Role

As a Gun Fitter at QinetiQ, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for maintaining and supporting large calibre weapons systems. Your role will involve ensuring the safe and serviceable condition of these systems, preparing them for trials, and providing preventative maintenance and fault rectification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of large calibre weapons systems
  • Ensure all weaponry and associated equipment are issued for trial and proof activities
  • Provide scheduled maintenance and fault rectification for large calibre weapons equipment
  • Conduct risk assessments across relevant equipment, rigs, and explosive articles
  • Develop professional and technical skills in pre-planned and reactive maintenance for trials support
Essential Experience:
  • Proven experience working with large calibre ordnance and associated equipment
  • Demonstrable awareness or knowledge of relevant risk assessment and health & safety regulations
  • Previous relevant experience working with large calibre gun systems or critical components
  • Demonstrable experience of maintenance, fault finding, and repair of large calibre weapons systems
Qualifications:
  • A recognised military large calibre armament apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • Computer literacy including knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • A full clean UK driving licence
