Head of Safety Policy and Compliance

At National Grid, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our safety policy and compliance efforts. As the Head of Safety Policy and Compliance, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective safety policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of our employees and the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive safety policy framework that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the development and maintenance of safety procedures, guidelines, and standards to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate safety risks, and develop strategies to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on safety policies and procedures, and ensure that all employees understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations to stay up-to-date on the latest safety regulations and best practices.
- Lead the development and implementation of safety training programs to ensure that employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely.
- Collaborate with the Director of SHE to develop and implement a safety management system that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- You have a strong background in safety management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role.
- You hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety, and have a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and are able to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- You are a strategic thinker, with the ability to develop and implement effective safety policies and procedures that align with business objectives.
- You are a team player, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve safety goals.
- A competitive salary between £78,000 - £88,000 dependent on experience.
- An electric company car or car cash allowance.
- Up to 20% Annual Bonus (based on personal and company performance).
- 28 days annual leave, plus eight statutory days in addition to the option to buy additional or sell holiday days every year.
