Job Summary:

The Isle of Wight Council is seeking a skilled Volunteer Coordinator to manage a team of volunteers under the supervision of the RAFT Team Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the volunteer programme complies with and adheres to the Council's safeguarding policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the allocation of work to volunteers, oversee performance management, and facilitate difficult conversations.
  • Coordinate volunteer expenses, monitoring within budget, and providing rationale to the RAFT Team Manager.
  • Work with Learning and Development to develop and deliver a training programme for volunteers, supporting good practice and cohesive working.
  • Embed a consistent approach to the recruitment of volunteers across Children's Services, working in collaboration with colleagues to ensure effective practice.
  • Liaise with internal colleagues and partners in the local community to enhance volunteer recruitment and management while maintaining quality.

About the Role:

The RAFT Team is a key part of the Council's Children's Services, working intensively with children and families to enable children to remain with their families or as part of focused intervention identified within child protection plans. The team is successful in strengthening parenting capacity, helping to reduce risk, and support children to remain living safely at home.
