Job Opportunity: Lecturer in AI for Weather Forecasting

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Reading is seeking an exceptional Lecturer in AI for Weather Forecasting to join our team. This is a part-time position that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-quality teaching and research in AI and environmental science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver teaching programs in AI and computational science at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Conduct research in AI and environmental science, with a focus on weather forecasting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the learning experience and support student success.
  • Develop and maintain a strong research profile, with a focus on publishing international research papers.
  • Participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Requirements:

  • PhD in computer science or a related field, with a strong reputation for rigorous international research in AI and computational science.
  • Well-developed knowledge of the fundamentals of computer science, suitable for teaching across the curriculum at UG/PG level.
  • Excellent research publications of international standing on AI and computational science.
  • Strong commitment to student support and the enhancement of the learning experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively alongside a diverse range of colleagues.

Selection Process:

Applications will be shortlisted, followed by a short telephone interview to confirm key facts and provide candidates with more details about the package being offered. Those who progress past this stage will be invited to a formal Panel interview, which will be organized online via Microsoft Teams.
