Job Title: Teacher of Science

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teacher of Science to join our team at The Lowry Academy. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education to our students, promoting academic excellence, and contributing to the overall success of our academy.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a strong passion for teaching and learning, excellent subject knowledge, and the ability to create engaging and inclusive lesson plans. You will work closely with our students, colleagues, and parents to ensure that every student achieves their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum for students, aligned with the academy's curriculum area.
  • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students, providing individualized support and guidance as needed.
  • Facilitate a learning experience that provides students with opportunities to achieve their individual potential, promoting academic excellence and personal growth.
  • Contribute to raising standards of student attainment, working collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Share and support the academy's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth, promoting a culture of excellence and inclusivity.
Teaching and Learning:
  • Assist in the development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of learning, marking policies, and teaching strategies in the curriculum area.
  • Contribute to the curriculum area's Raising Attainment Plan and its implementation, working collaboratively with colleagues to drive improvement.
  • Plan and prepare lessons, using a variety of delivery methods to stimulate learning and meet the needs of diverse students.
  • Contribute to the whole academy's planning activities, ensuring that teaching and learning are aligned with the academy's vision and values.
  • Monitor and evaluate the curriculum area, seeking modification and improvement where required, and contributing to the development of effective subject links with external agencies.
Performance Management:
  • Participate in the academy's staff development programme, engaging in further training and professional development to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Continue personal development in relevant areas, including subject knowledge and teaching methods, to maintain expertise and stay up-to-date with best practices.
  • Actively engage in the Performance Management Review process, reflecting on practice and identifying areas for improvement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Prepare and update subject materials, using a variety of delivery methods to engage students and promote learning.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse students, promoting academic excellence and personal growth.
Academy Policy:
  • Help implement academy quality procedures, adhering to policies and protocols that promote excellence and inclusivity.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and well-being.
  • Cooperate with colleagues and external agencies to promote a culture of excellence and inclusivity, working collaboratively to drive improvement.
Personnel:
  • Work as a member of a designated team, contributing positively to effective working relations within the academy.
Student Outcomes:
  • Maintain accurate records, providing relevant and up-to-date information for SIMS and other systems.
  • Track student progress, using data to inform teaching and learning and promote academic excellence.
Resources and Accommodation:
  • Ensure the effective and efficient deployment of classroom support, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the process of ordering and allocating equipment and materials, ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficiently.
