Job Overview

To act as the lead engineer for a multi-disciplined team, managing client relationships and contributing to the growth of the business. Provide technical support, design, and contract management expertise on mechanical or electrical building services engineering disciplines, ensuring project requirements and client specifications are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and maintaining existing client relationships.
  • Monitor and manage the profit and loss within the working team, formulating monthly financial reports.
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary design team to ensure successful project delivery, providing technical support and working with other Principal Engineers to ensure quality and timely operation delivery.
  • Manage staff training, development, appraisals, and succession planning within the team.
  • Keep up-to-date with technical developments, national and international standards, and legislative requirements related to the discipline.
  • Compile specifications, drawings, and contract documents, maintaining technical quality and ensuring designs comply with relevant codes, standards, regulations, and procedures.
  • Act as the lead engineer, liaising with clients and external design teams for successful project delivery.
Requirements
  • Results-oriented individual with strong problem-solving, technical realization, and coordination skills.
  • Relevant degree in electrical or mechanical building services engineering, or equivalent qualification, or sufficient suitable experience.
  • Extensive experience in a wide range of technical areas, with sound knowledge at Principal Engineer level and managing a team.
  • Associate or student member of an appropriate professional body, such as CIBSE, IET, MinstMC, MIHEEM.
  • Achieved or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with proven ability in negotiating positive outcomes, resource planning, motivation, and management.
  • Proven track record of setting and managing budgets, understanding profit and loss, and making sound financial decisions.
  • Team-builder, able to support the team through training and mentoring.
  • Computer literate, including AutoCAD, NES, Cymap, and Microsoft Office.
  • Current UK driving license.
