Job Duties

The successful candidate will deliver clinical, managerial, and professional leadership to nursing personnel at all levels within their designated area, ensuring that patient care is consistently provided to a high standard.

The individual will oversee the ongoing safe and effective delivery of their assigned portfolio, ensuring the achievement of quality and clinical performance indicators related to nursing and midwifery practice, as well as the broader context of patient care delivery.

Collaboration with the Lead Nurse and Deputy Lead Nurse will be essential to ensure that all relevant nursing and midwifery measures and indicators are thoroughly monitored, and effective governance arrangements are established to guarantee that patients consistently receive a positive experience that aligns with the CQC key Lines of Enquiry.

The post holder will take the lead on service and professional advancements, working closely with the Lead Nurse and Deputy Lead Nurse to ensure that all developments are considered and contribute to the overarching goals of the Trust's strategic plan.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • First degree or relevant experience
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) at an appropriate level
  • Management Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Leadership qualification or equivalent level of experience

Desirable

  • Master’s Degree or in progress

Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Extensive post-registration experience, including a proven track record of senior operational/service management experience within the NHS, particularly in acute inpatient/outpatient services
  • Experience in staff management
  • Positive experience in change management within an acute inpatient/outpatient setting
  • Familiarity with a variety of IT systems

Desirable

  • Experience in business planning and preparation of business cases
