Role Overview:

The primary objective of this role is to deliver expert financial guidance and outstanding service to our clients. You will also be significantly involved in overseeing and reviewing draft accounts prepared by junior accountants in the team.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Lead Financial Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in branch management duties
  • Managing a portfolio of clients
  • Meeting performance management and billing targets
  • Preparing annual accounts independently
  • Handling tax accountancy matters
  • Monitoring compliance with deadlines
  • Preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Drafting self-assessment tax returns
  • Fostering positive relationships with clients and the practice
  • Ensuring adherence to all financial regulations
  • Utilizing accounting software such as IRIS, Sage, Xero, and Quickbooks
  • Addressing client inquiries promptly and efficiently
  • Supporting colleagues and trainees with development and technical guidance

Essential Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A full accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA) with 2-3 years of post-qualification experience in a practice environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels
  • Strong reporting capabilities
  • Confidence in providing recommendations and advice to clients
  • Outstanding commercial awareness and a solid understanding of business objectives
  • A proven track record in a similar role
  • Preferred experience working with clients in the agricultural sector
  • A valid UK driving license
