About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic individual to join our team as a Relief Worker at Harbour Place, our brand-new extra care scheme in Workington. As a Relief Worker, you will provide high-quality, customer-oriented support and care to our customers, working under the direction of the scheme manager and support team.
About You
We are looking for someone with experience of working with people from various backgrounds and sectors of society, who possesses compassion, patience, and empathy. You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work flexibly to cover shifts, sometimes at short notice. A strong customer focus, approachability, and a positive attitude are essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in providing care and support to customers, maintaining and promoting their dignity and improving their health and wellbeing in a safe and appropriate environment.
- Work with customers to maintain a safe environment, including reporting any repairs or health and safety concerns.
- Contribute to the delivery of a housing management service, including income collection and providing customers with tenancy-related support.
- Resolve difficult and challenging situations in a sensitive and informed way, balancing the needs of the individual with the safety of the service.
- Ensure customer safety by following local safeguarding procedures, recognising, and acting on any risks and escalating appropriately.
Person Specification
We are looking for someone with an understanding of the barriers faced by vulnerable and diverse customer groups and individuals with complex needs. You will have experience of working in a team and communicating positively with other people, and be able to use initiative and have confidence to make decisions. Basic administrative and IT skills are also essential.
