Role Summary

Our client in the public sector is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to deliver expert technical guidance and support for their IT systems. This role entails overseeing the provision of technical services by managing the organization’s infrastructure, servers, systems, communications, and services at a third-line support level.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven technical expertise across a diverse range of server, storage, and networking technologies at a third-line support level.
  • Extensive experience with Windows Servers, virtualization technologies, enterprise storage solutions, and other server and infrastructure technologies in a large-scale enterprise setting.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and their support.
  • Understanding of IT security best practices.
  • Experience in leadership and team development within a technical support environment, including directing team members in task execution.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for report generation and presentations at an organizational level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all staff levels.
  • Proficient in documentation and reporting to present information clearly and logically.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills to fulfill requirements effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery

  1. Provide third-line technical support to operational and project teams as needed.
  2. Utilize diagnostic tools to investigate and resolve complex issues, ensuring adherence to service level agreements, while also analyzing recurring problems for long-term solutions.
  3. Execute complex configurations and installations of server, storage, and communication platforms for routine changes or projects.
  4. Recommend and establish standards for configurations, tools, and products.
  5. Maintain comprehensive system documentation, including standards, security protocols, procedures, and configuration details.
  6. Employ management software and analytical tools to gather system statistics, model performance, and generate reports, including improvement proposals. Use this data for capacity planning and budgeting.

Work Management

  1. Act as a reference point for inquiries related to incident and change management processes.
  2. Ensure timely resolution of incidents within SLA targets.
  3. Oversee change requests from initiation to completion.
  4. Address customer complaints and escalate issues to management as necessary.
