Design Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team at The Selection Partnership Ltd. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative engineering solutions for our clients in the Architectural Hardware industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Create detailed 2D and 3D models, technical drawings, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Conceptualization: Develop creative design solutions based on product requirements, user needs, and engineering constraints.
  • Prototyping: Work with prototyping teams to develop and test physical models, ensuring the design meets performance, durability, and safety standards.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality control teams to optimize designs for cost, manufacturability, and ease of assembly.
  • Analysis: Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and tolerance studies to ensure design integrity, quality, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot design issues, perform root-cause analysis, and propose solutions to meet technical challenges.
  • Documentation: Maintain design documentation, including revision history, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and testing procedures, ensuring adherence to project timelines.
  • Project Management: Track progress on design projects, including time and cost estimates, project scheduling, and risk management.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Supporting qualifications would be ideal.
  • Experience: Proven experience in product design, mechanical design of Architectural Hardware products.
  • CAD Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA).
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and engineering standards.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) is an advantage.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Knowledge:
  • Rapid Prototyping: Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques, 3D printing, and CNC machining.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI, ASTM).
