Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a motivated and skilled Female Assistant Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality program of support to families and children who are homeless due to domestic abuse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with delivering a program of support to families and children, promoting client choice and control.
  • Support clients in addressing their support needs, making positive life choices, and empowering them to lead more sustainable lifestyles.
  • Advocate for clients and accompany them on appointments.
  • Assist with day-to-day activities using trauma-informed approaches.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as record-keeping, case notes, form filling, and front-of-house cover.

Requirements:

  • Motivation towards supporting vulnerable clients to achieve focused and positive life outcomes.
  • Good customer service and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to demonstrate own initiative towards problem-solving, which benefits colleagues and clients.
  • Experience of working with children in a registered setting is desirable.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in a range of IT packages, including Microsoft.
  • Contribution to the creation and maintenance of a culture of continuous improvement within the service and evidence of commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Understanding of a personal value base that aligns with the core values of The Salvation Army and ability to work within the Christian ethos.
  • Demonstration of values of integrity and accountability within working practice.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, unsociable hours, and weekend work, with a flexible approach to hours worked as required.
