Area Manager

John Sisk and Son is seeking an experienced Area Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of reactive works on the NW&C route, ensuring high HSEQ standards and quality performance.
Key Responsibilities:- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and team members to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Manage a team of geographically or skilled-based supervisors/operatives to deliver reactive works safely and securely.
- Implement and maintain HSQE controls, including CPP/WPP and TBS, to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Plan and coordinate resource levels to ensure timely and quality execution of works.
- Monitor progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
- Sample work for quality before presentation to clients.
- Manage open orders to ensure KPIs are within limits.
- Support the team on high-priority/profile reactive works.
- Attend reactive meetings, subcontract, and internal meetings to maintain and circulate notes and action points.
- Produce an achievable programme and monitor key milestones throughout the programme.
- Escalate issues in a timely manner to your Line Manager.
- Ensure all records and project data systems are maintained to allow clients to view relevant reports.
- Manage risk, ensuring all necessary approvals are in place to allow projects to progress without risk.
- Carry out monthly risk reviews for high-risk activities in conjunction with Contracts Manager.
- Review buildability and identify methods of construction with commercial and Design to produce an achievable project, including temporary works.
- Identify non-conformances and implement corrective action.
- Inform the QS of any matter for which extra payment may be due or additional costs are involved.
- Close out all issues raised by safety, quality, and environmental reports and audits.
- Proven track record of at least 5 years within a project management environment with a similar National/Regional Contractor.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Organised with good time management and capable of proactive planning.
- Ability to get the best out of individuals, teams, and trade contractors and build consensus where differences of opinion arise.
- Manage safety performance in line with the Sisk safety code.
- Manage people performance in line with the Sisk HR code.
- Ability to relate to Company commercial procedures to own activities and Projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all the trades required on site, the codes of practice relating to them, and the requirements for them to be able to carry out required works.
- Working towards an academic and/or a professional industry-related qualification.
- CSCS for Managers, SMSTS.
- First Aid at work Certificate.
- CDM Awareness.
- Driving license.
