Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced clinician to join our Children's Community Service as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist. The successful candidate will work across the urban and rural communities of Gloucestershire, providing assessment, goal planning, and reviews to enable our patients to gain their maximum level of independence in their own homes and schools.

Main Duties

We are seeking an experienced, flexible, and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Children's community service. The postholder will work with children with neurological, neurodiverse, and developmental conditions, providing a holistic assessment, collaborative goal setting, and delivering and evaluating intervention to children in their homes or schools.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working with children, their families, and carers, and be able to support junior staff and colleagues. The work will primarily involve a combination of clinic-based assessments and visits to a child's home and school.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work as an integral member of the CYPS OT Service to provide a service through holistic assessment, collaborative goal setting, and delivering and evaluating intervention to children in their homes or schools.
  • Assess and treat own caseload of patients/clients.
  • Provide supervision and support to registered OTs, OT assistants as appropriate.
  • Provide occupational therapy advice to other disciplines.
  • May participate in departmental research.

  • Degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy.

Desirable

  • Further qualifications relevant to community practice.

Experience

  • Experience of working in the NHS in the UK in the clinical specialty.

  • Experience of supervising, appraising, and providing education/training to others.
