Position Overview
The Affordable Housing Officer is a permanent role at Grade 8, offering a salary range of £26,421 - £28,770.
We seek a proactive and dedicated individual to join our team, playing a crucial role in the execution of the Council's Affordable Housing Scheme, aimed at assisting residents in achieving home ownership.
The successful candidate will provide support and guidance to borough residents, facilitating access to various affordable housing programs. Detailed information about the Affordable Housing Scheme is available through the Council's resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and market the Affordable Housing Scheme across diverse tenures, including discounted sales, first homes, intermediate rentals, and shared ownership options.
- Serve as the primary contact for individuals interested in the Affordable Housing Scheme, guiding them through the application process.
- Evaluate and process applications for affordable housing, ensuring all necessary occupancy and financial criteria are met.
- Match applicants with suitable properties and liaise with private developers and registered providers regarding potential nominees.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, enabling them to foster positive relationships with clients. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access, is essential. A solid understanding of affordable housing initiatives, coupled with strong numeracy and literacy skills, is required. Experience in conducting basic research is also beneficial.
This position reports to the Unit Manager of Housing Strategy, Policy & Performance.
Work Schedule: The role entails a standard 37-hour work week, aligned with typical business hours. Flexibility may be required to accommodate service needs.
