Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Mental Capacity Team at Kirklees Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing guidance, support, and advice on all aspects of Mental Capacity, Deprivation of Liberty, and DoLICs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake and quality assure high-quality Best Interest Assessments and DoLIC assessments, providing clear analysis within set timescales.
  • Provide advice and information to colleagues, partner agencies, family members, and provider services.
  • Post-holders will be expected to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level, and scope of the post.
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding and working knowledge of the Adult Social Care legal framework, particularly in relation to Mental Capacity, DoLS, and DoLICs.
  • Significant experience of working in adult social care to Senior Practitioner/Level III Social Worker.
  • Ability to work within the Professional Capabilities Framework, statutory requirements, and Council policies.

Requirements

  • Recognised Social Work Qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Candidates should hold one of the following specialist roles: Practice Educator, BIA, or AMHP, or be willing to work towards the BIA qualification.

Working Arrangements

This is a permanent position, working 18.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will be based in our Hybrid and Civic Centre 3 location in Huddersfield.
