Materials Scientist for Quantum Technologies

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Department of Materials as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Materials for Quantum Technologies. As a world-leading university for science, technology, engineering, medicine, and business (STEMB), Imperial College London is renowned for its scientific imagination and world-changing impact.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be expected to:
- Plan, direct, and undertake the implementation of research activities and programmes of outstanding quality, international repute, and innovation in the area of Materials for Quantum Technologies.
- Contribute to the Department's vision to develop quantum technologies capable of operating at room temperature and under ambient conditions.
- Generate income from external sources to support their own research programme and develop collaborative programmes with other academics within the Department.
- Disseminate their research through publications in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations to relevant audiences.
- Teach and assess across a wide spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes.
- Supervise and assess laboratory classes, group exercises, and research projects.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A PhD in the physical sciences, engineering, or a related field.
- A developing national reputation and expertise in the field of Materials for Quantum Technologies.
- A track record and/or vision to develop quantum technologies capable of operating at room temperature and under ambient conditions.
- An ability to articulate a clear research vision that complements existing work.
- Experience of preparing grant applications for submission.
