We are seeking a Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our central team on a temporary basis.

Role Overview

This position is crucial for the operational success of our organization. The Regulatory Compliance Specialist will be responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance, and assessment of the company's compliance framework, which includes health and safety practices related to transportation and warehousing. This role ensures that the organization adheres to its core values, policies, and procedures while remaining compliant with external regulations and demonstrating best practices in health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the organization in achieving compliance with legal, corporate, procurement, safety, health, and environmental standards, providing assurance to the Board.
  • Implement a comprehensive health and safety training program across the organization, coordinating both internal and external audits, training sessions, and refreshers.
  • Regularly review, update, and communicate all company policies and procedures to ensure they remain relevant.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations through regular reviews and updates.
  • Manage and maintain all internal compliance databases, ensuring they contain accurate, evidence-based information.
  • Collaborate with Senior Managers to evaluate and approve existing and new contracts.
  • Conduct invoice reviews with attention to detail, identifying discrepancies and collaborating with suppliers to resolve issues.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience or familiarity with compliance and/or health and safety, though formal qualifications are not mandatory.
  • A practical, logical, and thorough approach to compliance tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, manage multiple tasks, and adjust priorities based on business needs.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

Desirable Qualifications

Familiarity with ESOS, and experience with BRC, Soil Association & FORS audits or similar standards.

Current knowledge of relevant health, safety, and welfare legislation.

Employment Terms

  • This role reports directly to the Directors.
  • Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, office-based.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • 30 days of annual leave, inclusive of public holidays.
  • Auto-enrollment pension scheme available.
  • Competitive salary exceeding £35,000 per annum.
  • Fixed-term contract lasting up to 18 months.
