Our Vision: to empower organizations to expand and transform by becoming true advocates for their Customers. With a rich legacy and proficiency in retail—one of the most fiercely competitive sectors, inundated with complex data—dunnhumby now supports businesses worldwide, across various industries, in adopting a Customer-First approach.

dunnhumby boasts a workforce of nearly 2,500 specialists across offices in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, collaborating with transformative and iconic brands such as Tesco, Coca-Cola, Meijer, Procter & Gamble, and Metro.

Role Overview:

We are in search of a Head of Strategic Initiatives for our Tesco Retail Media UK division. This position is akin to a corporate strategy role, tasked with steering the multi-year organic and disruptive growth strategies. For organic growth, this individual will spearhead the cross-functional formulation of an annual OGSM and a three-year roadmap for Tesco Retail Media UK. Acting as the central hub, this role will translate long-term growth objectives into strategic programs and initiatives across functions, managing strategic priorities and trade-offs as they emerge. For disruptive growth, the role will assess and propose strategic alliances, acquisitions, and programmatic integrations. Additionally, it will monitor the strategic landscape in Retail Media and the broader digital ecosystem, serving as a resource for addressing ad-hoc strategic inquiries. This position will be supported by a team of analysts as direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the annual OGSM-style business strategy process for Tesco Retail Media UK, establishing strategies and objectives across functions, securing endorsement from the cross-functional Retail Media leadership team, and aligning with broader Tesco/dunnhumby planning frameworks.
  • Craft a three-year strategic vision with revenue targets by proposition, platform investments, sales strategies by client segment, and any necessary gap-closing recommendations.
  • Drive disruptive growth through the identification of strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and programmatic integrations, collaborating closely with senior executives at dunnhumby.
  • Produce competitive analysis reports biannually, offering comprehensive comparisons of key Retail Media/Digital Ad Commerce platforms across the UK, US, and selected additional retailers. Foster share-and-learn relationships with non-competing retail organizations globally.
  • Serve as an internal consulting team for ad-hoc strategic inquiries, providing recommendations to the leadership team and dunnhumby executives, particularly in areas of functional misalignment or potential partnership opportunities.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Experience in corporate strategy or a strategy consulting environment.
  • Deep understanding of the digital advertising and ad tech competitive landscape.
  • Extensive background in articulating strategic challenges and options for senior management, identifying root causes, formulating hypotheses, and delivering clear presentations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in team leadership.
  • Experience in strategic partnerships and mergers & acquisitions.
What We Offer:

We aim to exceed your expectations. You will receive a comprehensive rewards package typical of a leading technology firm, along with a level of personal flexibility that may surprise you. Enjoy thoughtful perks, such as flexible working hours and a day off for your birthday.

Additionally, you will benefit from an investment in state-of-the-art technology that reflects our global ambitions, while maintaining a nimble, small-business atmosphere that encourages creativity, experimentation, and learning.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion, actively fostering a culture that supports thriving networks, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to excel and perform at their best throughout our recruitment process. We welcome discussions on how we can accommodate your needs during this process.
