Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and versatile journalist and editor to join our team at Reach PLC as a Deputy News Editor. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping and setting the news agenda for millions of readers around the world every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct coverage on major breaking news stories, both domestic and foreign, to ensure the Mirror stays a step ahead of our rivals.
  • Sub-edit and manage copy to ensure it is accurate and attention-grabbing.
  • Work on weekends and shifts, requiring a flexible approach.

Requirements

  • An experienced senior journalist and editor with an NCTJ or equivalent journalism qualification (or relevant time served).
  • In-depth knowledge of media law.
  • A strong track record of writing and editing breaking news stories at a national or major regional title, with a deep understanding of what works for a digital audience.
  • First-rate editing, writing, and subbing skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and a strong network of industry contacts.
