Main Statement of Job Purpose: To ensure a secure and effective 7-day bus operation while upholding high standards of cleanliness and presentation as set by the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Role:

Fuelling Responsibilities

Prepare the vehicle fleet for the upcoming service by refuelling. Maintain cleanliness in the fuelling area and eliminate any hazards before commencing work. Position vehicles correctly at the pump, ensuring the engine is off using the emergency stop feature, and proceed with refuelling. Utilize the fuel tag, insert the nozzle into the fuel neck, and dispense fuel, ensuring to handle any spillages promptly and report them. Monitor and refill AdBlue levels carefully to prevent spills. Accurately document mileage, fuel consumption, and any oil and AdBlue usage on the daily fuel log. Report any fuelling issues and mark vehicles that are not fuelled as V.O.R. Dispose of waste correctly after fuelling and ensure the fuel log is returned to the office with closing readings recorded for the next day.

Cleaning Duties

Clean vehicles to meet both company and, if applicable, Transport for London (TfL) standards, ensuring all records are properly maintained. Conduct daily sweeps and perform interior cleaning on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis according to company standards, completing all necessary paperwork. Depending on the equipment available, either: Move the bus wash to the wash pad, check and replenish fresh water if needed, clear any obstructions, and commence washing, ensuring the entire vehicle is cleaned.

Vehicle Management

Arrange all buses according to the parking plan to facilitate smooth deployment for the next service.

Compliance with Policies & Procedures

Understand and adhere to all company policies and statutory regulations regarding working hours, health & safety, and operational practices. Follow all company working policies and procedures diligently.

General Responsibilities

Use permitted garage equipment correctly and report any defects to your supervisor. Ensure workplace standards consistently meet company expectations.

Health & Safety Awareness

Immediately report any unsafe actions or conditions using the company reporting procedure, such as fuel or oil spills. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) for the tasks being performed, including overalls, boots, gloves, and high-visibility clothing.

As an employee, you are responsible for cooperating with management to maintain a safe workplace for all by taking reasonable care not to endanger yourself or others through your actions or inactions. You are expected to consider potential hazards and risks in all work activities.

Shift Times

The shift from Monday to Saturday is from 17:30 to 02:00 daily, including a 30-minute unpaid break and a 15-minute paid break.

The Sunday shift runs from 16:00 to 00:30, also with a 30-minute unpaid break and a 15-minute paid break.

The rota covers 5 days out of 7 on a 6-week rotation.
