Position Overview:
The role of Senior Simulator Maintenance Engineer is crucial in ensuring the operational readiness and reliability of our Full Flight Simulators and associated training devices. This position is based in Crawley (West Sussex), UK, and involves full-time shift work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance and support of Full Flight Simulators and lower-level training devices.
- Serve as the primary contact for customers regarding technical and logistical matters.
- Manage team workload and future maintenance planning.
- Participate actively in the maintenance team, providing comprehensive service.
- Maintain qualifications as a Device Coordinator.
Essential Duties:
- Engage with customers to address technical and logistical inquiries.
- Lead the maintenance team in prioritizing and planning workloads to ensure timely task completion.
- Provide guidance and support to other departments to maximize training availability.
- Conduct troubleshooting and resolve faults efficiently.
- Perform scheduled maintenance routines for simulators.
- Investigate and rectify ongoing simulator issues.
- Conduct simulator setup and pre-flight checks.
- Assist with annual re-certification processes and reporting.
- Manage Aircraft and Simulator software maintenance.
- Oversee the Simulator Software Configuration Management System.
- Collaborate with design and test teams to address defects and enhance products.
- Implement and test software modifications and build new software loads.
- Manage spare parts inventory, including ordering and tracking repairs.
- Monitor and document the usage, reliability, and maintainability of training devices.
- Mentor less experienced team members.
- Conduct safety briefings for new instructors.
- Operate simulators for testing and demonstrations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum educational requirement of BTEC/HTQ, HND/HNC level or equivalent experience.
- Strong theoretical knowledge in electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, complemented by practical experience.
- Ability to understand aircraft systems and interpret engineering and electronic diagrams.
- Familiarity with aircraft manuals and documentation.
- Previous experience with Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD).
- Demonstrated flexibility and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in IT, particularly with MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
