Position Overview
The Waste Compliance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that the development and execution of waste management protocols align seamlessly with the overarching policies, processes, and values of the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
This position is responsible for guaranteeing compliance with statutory waste regulations as well as meeting national and local waste management targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the development of the Waste Management Strategy, contributing to the broader Facilities Management Strategy to achieve operational objectives.
2. Conduct comprehensive reviews of waste services through benchmarking and other methodologies to implement the most efficient operational practices.
3. Provide professional guidance and ensure effective staff development across various disciplines.
4. Formulate, implement, and uphold quality and safety plans to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet patient needs.
5. Oversee financial management and reporting to ensure all resources are utilized responsibly and in accordance with established policies.
6. As a senior manager, contribute to shaping the strategic direction of the Service Board.
The ability to communicate in Welsh is advantageous for this role; applications from both Welsh and English speakers are encouraged.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Master's Degree or equivalent experience in waste management and facilities.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing waste strategies within complex organizations.
Desirable:
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Chartered membership of a recognized professional institution.
