At Biffa Waste Services, we're committed to making a positive impact on the environment. As a Site Chemist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient management of hazardous waste at our Cardiff site.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and control all processes within the facility to ensure operational productivity and plant availability.
  2. Ensure the security of waste entering the facility and disposal in line with customer requirements, minimizing costs.
  3. Implement and maintain best practices in cost control and processing operations, ensuring inputs and outputs meet defined standards.
  4. Control material flows to minimize delays and backlogs.
  5. Conduct regular stock control and inventory of materials, both waste and consumables held on site.
  6. Maintain a high level of housekeeping in all areas, ensuring effective and timely completion of tasks.
  7. Implement and ensure compliance with all company policies, processes, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a chemist in a hazardous waste management business or chemical/manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum of a HNC Chemistry qualification.
  • GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English Language.
  • IT literate, with confident use of MS Office.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working within a time-critical processing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to measure and monitor data.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels.
  • Full, clean UK valid driving license.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK for business meetings and project work at other locations.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
