Position Overview:
The Libraries & Heritage service is dedicated to ensuring that community members are prioritized in all our operations. Our library system fosters literacy, education, and inclusivity by providing access to books and various resources through a network of libraries.
We are seeking a skilled van driver responsible for transporting books to fulfill customer requests and relocating inventory across multiple library locations and associated facilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be expected to travel throughout the community on a daily basis, playing a vital role in the effective operation of the library services to meet community demands.
This position involves physical labor, requiring extended periods of driving and the capacity to lift and transport boxes containing books and multimedia materials.
The role necessitates a strong commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, involving interaction with library personnel and a diverse community, including children, teenagers, and individuals from various cultural backgrounds and with differing abilities.
Required Experience:
Proven experience in long-distance driving and the ability to handle and transport boxes of books and multimedia items is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
A general education qualification is desirable.
Additional Information:
Working hours are set at 30 hours per week.
The candidate must possess a full, clean driving license and will be required to successfully complete the driving assessment.
