Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Assistant Buyer to support our purchasing department at Reed. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Senior Buyer with the procurement of all parts, materials, and commodities, ensuring the health and safety of staff, approved suppliers/contractors, minimizing environmental impact, and achieving service and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist the buyer in selecting the right product mix to meet business needs.
- Write, place, and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and quality.
- Negotiate with vendors to build positive, long-term relationships and secure competitive pricing.
- Research new suppliers and make recommendations to the buyer to improve procurement processes.
- Develop and implement competitive retail and pricing strategies to drive business growth.
- Plan, monitor, and maintain suitable inventory levels to minimize stockouts and overstocking.
- Prepare budgets and forecast purchasing trends to inform business decisions.
- Compile reports on product performance and statistics to measure procurement effectiveness.
- Degree in business, economics, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in the merchandising or retail industry is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
- Experience with merchandising software systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
