Public Health Specialist

Our client, a well-established organisation, is seeking a highly skilled Public Health Consultant to join their team on a 3-month contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health, epidemiology, and healthcare management.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide professional public health leadership to develop population health management in the Integrated Care System (ICS), working closely with colleagues and partners to ensure the approach is embedded in relevant strategies and delivery at place in Brighton & Hove.
- Lead the local strategy to improve and reduce inequalities in sexual health population outcomes, including overseeing the public health commissioning of services in these areas.
- Lead the local strategy to improve and reduce inequalities in drug and alcohol treatment and recovery outcomes, including overseeing the public health commissioning of services in these areas, and leading on the Combatting Drugs Partnership programme.
- Lead plans and action to develop the local public health workforce.
- Jointly lead the development and delivery of the Health and Wellbeing strategy with public health and other health & care colleagues, contributing across the Starting, Living, Ageing and Dying Well outcomes.
- Lead the development, implementation, and delivery of relevant national, regional, and local strategies and policies, developing inter-agency and interdisciplinary strategic plans and programmes, with delegated organisational authority to deliver key public health targets and outcomes.
- Participate in local health protection delivery as necessary.
- Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists.
- Demonstrate a high level of understanding of epidemiology and statistics, public health practice, health promotion, health economics, and healthcare evaluation.
- Understanding of NHS and local government cultures, structures, and policies.
- Awareness of models of integrated commissioning.
- Knowledge of methods of developing clinical quality assurance, quality improvement, and evidence-based clinical and/or public health practice.
