Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join our team at NatWest, where you will play a key role in shaping the bank's technology strategy and architecture.

About the Role

  • As an Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for defining and communicating the current, resultant, and target state architecture for your assigned scope, ensuring alignment with our overall strategy and architecture.
  • You will work closely with business owners, portfolio managers, product managers, and release managers to define the target intentional architecture and lead complex and technically challenging architectural transformations.
  • Key responsibilities will include:
  • Architecture Development
    • Develop and maintain architecture models, roadmaps, standards, and outcomes, using architecture strategies to ensure alignment to adjacent and higher-level models.

  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Communicate complex technical concepts to colleagues, up to senior leadership level, ensuring wider stakeholder buy-in for the strategies being delivered.
    • Work closely with business owners, portfolio managers, product managers, and release managers to define the target intentional architecture.
  • Transformation Leadership
    • Lead complex and technically challenging architectural transformations, coordinating design and platform teams across domains.
    • Seek out and utilise continuous feedback, fostering adaptive design and engineering practices to drive the collaboration of programmes and teams around a common technical vision.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of application architecture, and at least one business, data, or infrastructure architecture with in-depth knowledge of the remaining disciplines.
  • Experience of enterprise architecture in a large regulated financial institution and experience of assessing and defining options to modernise the core of a large enterprise or major financial institution.
  • Strong communication skills and storytelling ability, with the capacity to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to colleagues, up to senior leadership level.
  • Experience of working in an Agile team and knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Industry architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF and ArchiMate.
  • Experience of working with business solution vendors, technology vendors, and products within the market.
  • A background in systems development change life cycles, best practices, and approaches aligned to knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering.
