Job Description

Hexagon Recruitment is seeking an experienced Engineering Team Leader to join our client's dynamic team in Deeside. As a key member of the production team, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating engineering support activities, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources, and achieving team KPIs for equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Coordination
    • Collaborate closely with Production Team Leaders and Managers to achieve operational targets.
    • Supervise and coordinate engineering support team activities to ensure timely completion of allocated work.
    • Plan and allocate resources efficiently to meet deadlines and drive continuous improvement.
    • Achieve team KPIs for equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance.
  • Technical Expertise and Development
    • Coach engineers and machine minders on safe practices and fault resolution to promote a culture of excellence.
    • Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and basic control issues to minimize downtime.
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis, to identify areas for improvement.
    • Identify areas for improvement in production environment, equipment, and systems to drive efficiency and productivity.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance
    • Audit monitoring systems to ensure compliance with company procedures and legislation.
    • Implement corrective actions as needed to maintain high standards of quality and safety.
    • Adhere to non-conformance processes and corrective action protocols to ensure continuous improvement.
    • Support plant KPIs related to Safety, Quality, People, Delivery, and Cost standards.
  • Objectives
    • Deliver high-quality engineering services to achieve operational targets and drive business growth.
    • Ensure timely completion of all allocated work and maintain a culture of excellence.
    • Promote safe working practices and efficient fault resolution to minimize downtime.
    • Drive continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility to stay ahead of the competition.
    • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry standards to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • Level 3 City & Guilds/BTEC/ONC in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working to KPIs in an FMCG setting.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in People Management activities.
  • Proven expertise in electrical systems, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certification.
  • Experience with Improvement Strategy and Risk Analysis assessments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles and ability to operate to safe and approved procedures.
  • IPAF or equivalent training.
  • IEE wiring regulations (current edition).
  • Competent IT skills, in particular with Microsoft Office.
Desired Skills
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Understanding of cost and budget management.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency practices in industrial settings.
  • MHE and/or PPT Licence.
  • Level 3 Food Safety Certification.
