Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist SLT, you will play a crucial role in providing a Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service to acute hospital in-patients with a range of neurological conditions.

Main Duties
  • Provide specialist assessment and management of dysphagia and communication disorders in patients with neurological conditions.
  • Contribute to the provision of instrumental evaluation of swallowing, including Videofluoroscopy.
  • Be competent in the assessment and management of tracheostomy care.
  • Evaluate the SLT service within the specialist area, making recommendations for improvements and future design of services in line with best practice and current guidelines.
  • Work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to differentially diagnose, assess, treat, and manage swallowing and communication disorders within the speciality.
  • Provide expertise to SLT and MDT colleagues, patients, and carers through specialist advice and education.
  • Support the SLT team in the delivery of care across the Acute Medical service.

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who possesses the following skills and qualifications:

  • Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy as recognised by RCSLT and HCPC.
  • RCSLT membership.
  • Current Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.
  • Evidence of successful completion of postgraduate study in dysphagia and relevant highly specialist short courses.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD to meet regulatory body professional standards.
