Compensation and Benefits

Role Responsibilities
As a Service Engineer, you will operate from a home office and primarily cover the southern regions of the UK, with occasional support required in other areas of the UK and Ireland.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting 2-5 customer visits weekly due to the intricate nature of the equipment.
- Performing new equipment installations, commissioning, and basic operator training for small groups, which may take 2-3 days for complex systems.
- Engaging with major industry clients (15%) and academic institutions (85%), with potential for limited hospital client interactions as your expertise expands.
- Decommissioning equipment for relocation purposes.
- Carrying out routine service and calibration tasks, alongside reactive maintenance, including diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Working with high-value equipment ranging from £100K to £2M, encompassing both hardware and software components.
- Completing service visit documentation.
- Adhering to a service schedule of 2+ weeks.
- Initial training will involve shadowing experienced engineers in the field.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-4 years of service engineering experience, preferably in a field-based role, with a solid foundation in both mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience with complex equipment is essential, which may include but is not limited to: Analytical Instruments, Optical Microscopes, Vision Inspection Systems, Laser Deposition, Photonics, Sample Preparation Equipment, Electron Microscopes, Vacuum Pumps, and various high-voltage systems.
We welcome applications from former RAF or military engineers seeking to transition into the private sector, provided they are adaptable and eager to develop their skills independently.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service are critical.
A relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree, or Apprenticeship) is required, along with a logical and methodical approach to troubleshooting and the flexibility to travel within the UK (approximately 40% of your time away from home, averaging 2 nights per week).
A valid UK driving license and the right to work in the UK are mandatory, as sponsorship is not available.
