**Job Summary**

As a Battery Modeling Engineer at AVANT, you will play a crucial role in developing high-fidelity battery cell and pack models to support the company's Intelligent Software Layer for automotive and mobility applications. Your expertise will be instrumental in generating models to optimize battery management software development, ensuring robust product development.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity battery cell and pack models, leveraging both ECM-based and physics-based approaches.
  • Establish and implement model development processes with serial production intent, ensuring seamless integration with software development teams.
  • Define model requirements, features, and parameterization processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive product development.
  • Coordinate model development and testing around the V-cycle, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Support software development teams by optimizing models for software integration and testing, ensuring seamless product deployment.
  • Provide and manage documentation as required, ensuring compliance with company standards.

**Required Skills and Attributes:**

  • At least three years of experience in battery modeling in automotive and/or mobility, including physics-based modeling for estimation and controls. A relevant PhD qualification is preferred.
  • Excellent grasp of the Matlab/Simulink toolchain, with experience in developing and implementing complex models.
  • Good understanding of batteries and electrochemistry, with knowledge of battery testing for cell characterization.
  • Solid grasp of optimization theory and model parameterization methods, with experience in applying these techniques to real-world problems.
  • Awareness of EV technologies, components, and specifically battery management systems, sensors, and actuators.
  • Good understanding of and experience in automotive software development is a plus (e.g., V-cycle).
