Lead the Future of Medical Education

We are seeking a visionary leader to head our School of Medicine, driving innovation and excellence in medical education. As a key member of the NHS England team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare professionals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the NHS England mandate. This will involve working closely with the Postgraduate Dean to develop and implement strategies that improve learner supervision, assessment, and experience.

The role requires a strong focus on engagement of faculty, ensuring effective educational outcomes, and developing multi-professional links. You will also be responsible for innovative ways of curriculum delivery and workforce well-being strategies.

The NHS England board has set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all. As Head of School, you will contribute to achieving this purpose by:

  • Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
  • Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values, and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care.
  • Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation.

You will be expected to meet the challenges of leading the School and Education Providers to deliver the changing curricular in an evolving service landscape. This will require strong leadership, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence in medical education.

As a senior clinician within NHSE, you may have wider roles and projects as agreed with the Postgraduate Dean. We offer a secondment opportunity for applicants from within the NHS, subject to agreement with their employer.
