Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a full-time Activity Coordinator to join our dedicated team within a mental health inpatient unit. This role is essential in facilitating therapeutic activities that support individuals on their recovery journey.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in assisting patients to identify and engage in personalized activities, while also organizing ward-based programs that promote routine and structure. Active participation in the implementation of therapeutic interventions will be a key responsibility.

Regular supervision will be provided, along with opportunities to participate in a monthly peer development group aimed at enhancing your skills and knowledge in activity facilitation.

Main Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is to foster an activity-oriented culture within the inpatient environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and delivering a variety of social, recreational, and leisure activities both on and off the ward.
  • Collaborating with nursing and Occupational Therapy staff to develop and implement a comprehensive timetable of activities.
  • Working closely with individual service users to support their treatment plans and facilitate their recovery.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions to ensure positive outcomes for service users.
  • Contributing to ongoing risk assessments in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensuring that the necessary environment and resources are available for conducting activities.

Essential Qualifications

  • Formal qualifications such as NVQ Level III or equivalent knowledge.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and self-motivation.
