Position Overview:

The Devon Sensory Team is dedicated to offering support, guidance, and rehabilitation training to individuals experiencing visual and hearing impairments, including those who are Deafblind. We are seeking a qualified Rehabilitation Officer specializing in Visual Impairment to manage a personal caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting specialized assessments to identify the needs of clients.
  • Implementing outcome-focused rehabilitation strategies to empower adults with visual impairments and dual sensory loss to achieve independence.
  • Providing professional guidance and support, including equipment demonstrations and training in daily living skills and mobility.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the emotional and practical support requirements of individuals with visual impairments, adhering to the principles of the 2014 Care Act. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and address complex issues with sensitivity and tact.

Work Environment:

Based in Exeter, you will be responsible for your own caseload within the sensory team, receiving specialized supervision and peer support to enhance your professional development.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a high level of confidence and motivation, ready for immediate operational engagement.
