The ideal candidates will possess one of the following profiles:

  • An innovative journalist capable of uncovering, reporting, and crafting captivating exclusive stories
  • A talented writer who can produce polished, engaging content in our distinctive voice
  • An accomplished senior editor with a background in high-stakes news operations, adept at overseeing the production and dissemination of digital content, collaborating with a team to present each story with unique headlines and visuals

You are someone who is prepared to make calls, pursue leads, sift through legal documents, pose challenging questions, and undertake any necessary efforts to uncover and deliver the story.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create polished and engaging SEO-friendly content that entertains and informs
  • Develop in-depth investigative and enterprise articles as required
  • Demonstrate the ability to brainstorm, gather ideas, and report comprehensively
  • Identify viral stories or unique angles that have not been addressed by other outlets and reframe local narratives with a national perspective
  • Exhibit strong news-gathering capabilities and adapt to a digital-first approach
  • Possess knowledge of navigating legal documents, understanding local government processes, and simplifying complex topics
  • Maintain a robust network of contacts and sources
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Senior Editor candidates:

  • Have a minimum of three to five years of experience in a major news operation
  • Assign and edit stories for a team of reporters
  • Strategically manage the daily news cycle and oversee ongoing coverage of trending topics
  • Curate homepage content, ensuring a mix of the most significant, engaging, and eye-catching stories
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to select content
  • Assist with breaking news, including social media amplification and push notifications
  • Collaborate seamlessly with social media, photography, and other departments to enhance our coverage
  • Work alongside leaders across various editorial divisions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional skills in editing, writing, or reporting
  • A profound understanding of the entertainment and pop culture landscape, along with a network of established contacts
  • Strong news judgment, excellent time management, and the ability to multitask effectively
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced online news environment
  • Experience with content management systems, photo editing tools, and web analytics
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and current social trends
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
