Job Summary:

Liverpool John Moores University is seeking an experienced professional to join our Disability Advice Team as an Academic Adviser. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert guidance and support to students with disabilities, ensuring they have a seamless and successful university experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and guidance to students with disabilities on all aspects of university life and funding.
  • Support students in applying for Disability Support Allowance (DSA) and arranging necessary accommodations.
  • Liaise with academic staff to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans with students to help them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive support system for students with disabilities.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in supporting students with disabilities, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and external partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems and software, including those used for disability support and student management.
  • A working knowledge of allowances and funding available to students with disabilities.
