We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team, bringing expertise in Control, Electrical, and Instrumentation (CE&I) within the Nuclear industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of deliverables assigned to you.
  • Maintain compliance of engineering outputs with established standards, codes, and procedures.
  • Meet all technical requirements set by customers.
  • Develop safe and legally compliant engineering solutions that meet project specifications.
  • Gather, document, and communicate requirements effectively to relevant stakeholders.
  • Plan and execute engineering and design tasks, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines.
  • Create design quality plans and ensure alignment with quality protocols.
  • Collaborate with project management to develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
  • Identify resource needs and coordinate resource allocation as necessary.
  • Report on the progress of engineering deliverables against work plans.
  • Source innovative ideas and generate options that enhance engineering solutions.
  • Identify and ensure compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Produce engineering documentation that supports the design process.
  • Develop comprehensive technical specifications for engineering solutions.
  • Assess design elements and provide justification for decisions made.
  • Conduct detailed calculations for component sizing and specifications.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement hazard mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure consistency in the use of software tools and deliverable formats.
  • Support the preparation of technical information for tenders.
  • Act as the primary contact for customer stakeholders, fostering collaborative relationships.
  • Organize and conduct design reviews as required.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree with honors or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in design engineering.
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment, particularly in Nuclear.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Skilled in CAD software and digital tools, with an understanding of company management systems.
  • Knowledgeable in design codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in the design and detailing of plant and equipment.
  • Familiarity with project management practices and contract methodologies.
  • Experience supervising small teams in engineering project delivery.
  • Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and reporting practices.
  • Ability to prepare and manage project schedules effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership within an engineering department.
