About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Mobile Assistant Cook to join our team at Hertfordshire Catering Limited. As a key member of our primary school catering team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene, and providing excellent customer service to students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals, including special dietary requirements, to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Clean and maintain the kitchen and dining areas, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Conduct stocktakes and ordering, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Manage budgets and maintain accurate records of expenditure.
  • Adhere to our Food Safety Management System and Health & Safety protocols.
  • Provide friendly and polite customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Deputize for the Cook Manager in their absence, demonstrating leadership and initiative.
  • Be IT literate and proficient in using our systems and software.
Requirements
  • A valid driving license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Passion for food and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals.
  • Previous catering experience, preferably in a school or similar environment.
  • Able to manage and motivate a team, promoting a positive and inclusive work culture.
  • Food hygiene level 2 certification (training will be provided for those without).
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and protocols.
  • Exceptional timekeeping and reliability, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Fluent communication skills in spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
