Job Title: Fashion Design Instructor Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fashion Design Instructor Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide technical support to students enrolled in the Fashion Design & Accessories BA Hons program, collaborating closely with fashion design instructors to enhance students' skills in shoemaking, bag crafting, and garment construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to learners in pattern construction, garment assembly, and finishing techniques.
  • Demonstrate expert techniques and offer hands-on guidance during practical sessions.
  • Motivate and inspire students to excel in their creative pursuits.
  • Contribute to curriculum development by sharing technical knowledge.
  • Supervise garment construction from initial design to professionally finished products.
  • Procure and maintain equipment, including resource identification, purchasing recommendations, and health and safety oversight.
  • Prepare and set up equipment and materials for practical classes and assist teaching staff.
  • Manage tools, equipment, and materials, including organizing repairs and safety assessments.
  • Supervise students during open access sessions and ensure proper induction and certification.
  • Assist in risk assessments and safety checklist creation.
  • Manage stock, inventory, and the sale of materials to students.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in fashion design techniques, including shoemaking, bag crafting, and garment construction.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for teaching.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Patient and able to support students in their creative journey.
  • Relevant qualifications or industry experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in Fashion Design focused on patternmaking, tailoring, and sewing, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong IT skills, organizational abilities, and time management skills.
  • Prior teaching or training experience is a bonus.
  • CAD skills are desirable.
