Job Description for Senior Criticality Consultant

National Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Senior Criticality Consultant to join our team. As a criticality safety expert, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe operation of our facilities and the delivery of our projects.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in criticality safety assessment and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results. You will be responsible for leading technical delivery of projects in the criticality area, managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and providing expert knowledge of criticality safety assessment.

As a Senior Criticality Consultant, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from criticality safety assessments to the development of new methodologies and approaches. You will also have the chance to collaborate with other experts in the field and contribute to the development of our team's capabilities.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual who is passionate about criticality safety and has a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results. Main Responsibilities

  • Leading technical delivery of projects in the criticality area to time, cost, quality, value, and service requirements.
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including safety, technical, and delivery teams.
  • Providing expert knowledge of criticality safety assessment, including being up to date with developments in methodology and approach.
  • Leading the development of new methodologies and approaches in criticality safety assessment.
  • Representing National Nuclear Laboratory on relevant national forums.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree qualified or equivalent level of demonstrable technical capability.
  • SQEP 3 with demonstrable experience in criticality safety.
  • Excellent level of knowledge in the specialized field of criticality safety assessment.
  • Proven ability to act independently, under own initiative, while supervising other members of the team.
  • Strong communication skills, including multi-site working.
  • Excellent teamworking skills, with ability to inspire the work of a team.
  • Experienced in mentoring and developing technical skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Preferably Chartered Membership of a professional institution, or working towards this qualification.
