As a Lead DevOps Specialist, you will play a vital role in our community, ensuring that our DevOps methodologies evolve in alignment with technological advancements.
Our development teams at DWP Digital - Health and Disability create solutions that facilitate straightforward, responsive services, enabling timely and accurate decisions for 16 million individuals in the UK with health conditions or disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary support.
The Cloud Infrastructure team within Health and Disability acts as a central enabling team, specializing in the development and maintenance of application and data analytics platforms to support our evolving Health & Disability services. This approach minimizes cognitive load on individual development teams, allowing them to focus on creating scalable and reliable products.
Due to the collaborative nature of our team, regular travel to various locations may be required.

Role Responsibilities
As a Lead DevOps Specialist, you will utilize contemporary tools to design and implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains, with a strong emphasis on automation.
Your tasks will include crafting and deploying solutions that are highly available, resilient, scalable, extensible, and maintainable across diverse cloud environments.
Collaboration across the organization will be essential as you promote a culture of engineering ownership and emphasize the importance of service integrity and maintenance.
Additional responsibilities will encompass collaborating with product-focused teams to gather requirements, assess tools, implement and update solutions, provision environments, and assist with operational challenges.
Candidate Profile
When detailing your experience in your CV, please highlight your qualifications in line with the essential criteria below:
• LEAD CRITERIA - Proven expertise in writing and maintaining Infrastructure and Configuration as Code.
• Demonstrated experience using Unix/Linux in a support and/or development context, including proficiency in scripting languages.
• Solid background in a DevOps environment, including Continuous Integration & Deployment, and agile scrum methodologies.
• Proven knowledge of implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in supporting, guiding, and developing Engineers across multidisciplinary teams in an agile setting.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and supporting cloud-based applications (AWS and/or Azure).

Compensation Details
Salary for this role ranges from a specified minimum to a specified maximum. Exceptional candidates may be eligible for a Digital Allowance based on an assessment of skills and experience.
Offers to successful candidates will be determined based on an evaluation of skills and experience demonstrated during the interview process.
Current Civil Servants transferring laterally will retain their existing salary, while those gaining promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or receive a percentage increase, whichever is greater.
