Phlebotomy Specialist

The Relief Phlebotomist role at Boots involves traveling to stores around the region, up to 60 minutes from the base store, to provide phlebotomy services. As a Relief Phlebotomist, you will be working on behalf of Our Future Health, a charity in partnership with the NHS, aiming to become the UK's largest ever health research programme.
Main Responsibilities
As a Relief Phlebotomist, your key duties will include:
- Welcoming participants, verifying their details, and providing clear explanations of the phlebotomy procedure.
- Conducting measurements such as height, weight, and waist circumference.
- Managing clerical responsibilities, including coordinating appointment bookings for the phlebotomy service and ensuring adequate stock levels of essential materials.
- Taking and maintaining venous blood samples from participants.
- Supporting on the healthcare counter, providing valuable support to patients and customers, including offering informed advice on healthcare products and services.
- Completing an NVQ2 Healthcare training programme.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience as a Phlebotomist (12 months practical).
- Ability to work calmly under pressure within a busy team, as well as independently.
- Empathetic, approachable, and able to interact sensitively.
- Digitally savvy and comfortable embracing technology.
- Passionate about healthcare and customer care.
- Prepared to learn and complete a Healthcare Training Programme at NVQ2 or equivalent.
- Flexibility to work weekends.
