Job Title: Assistant Subject Leader

Job Purpose:

The main purpose of this post is to provide strong leadership and support the development of the subject area across the Academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting high standards of teaching and learning, modeling excellent practice, and ensuring the consistent application of teaching and learning strategies that meet the needs of all learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Set high expectations for standards of teaching and learning and model excellent practice.
  2. Promote the building and sharing of good practice.
  3. Ensure the consistent application of teaching and learning strategies that meet the needs of all learners.
  4. Oversee the development and evaluation of appropriate specifications and learning maps.
  5. Lead curriculum masterclasses to support subject knowledge development and subject pedagogy.
  6. Monitor and evaluate standards of teaching and learning through classroom observation, sampling pupils' work, and student feedback.
  7. Oversee effective assessment, recording, and reporting of pupil progress.
  8. Monitor and evaluate standards of attainment through the collection, analysis, and reporting of performance data.
  9. Work with the Subject Leader to complete and regularly update the subject development plan.
  10. Create a stimulating learning environment that promotes the subject's identity and its contribution to the whole Academy curriculum.
  11. Keep abreast of national developments in the subject area and apply them where relevant.
  12. Carry out any other relevant tasks and duties as may occasionally be required.
