Your Role:
As a Principal Safety Case Specialist, you will be a key player in our Safety Case Assessment team. Your expertise will be essential in evaluating nuclear, explosive, and other significant hazards. You will lead the charge in a variety of innovative projects, including:
- Development of new facilities as part of AWE's extensive Capital Programme.
- Strategic planning for future systems supporting the UK’s long-term deterrent strategy.
- Extending the operational life of existing facilities.
- Decommissioning outdated facilities.
Location: Reading / Basingstoke area

Your Responsibilities:
In this pivotal role, you will:
- Lead the technical input for key safety documentation essential for operations in complex environments.
- Deliver safety assessments and technical documentation that meet AWE’s high standards.
- Collaborate with process owners to ensure compliance with contemporary standards.
- Provide technical guidance for the design and delivery of training programs.
- Mentor junior safety analysts to foster their professional growth.
Candidate Profile:
We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:
- A degree in a science or engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in safety case development across various industries, particularly in radiological, chemical, or explosive contexts.
- Familiarity with Safety Case Assessment techniques.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in high-hazard or regulated environments.
- Professional membership in a relevant chartered body (preferred).
