Quality Engineer Job Description

Contek Recruitment is working with a precision engineering client in Basildon, Essex, to find a Quality Engineer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

About the Company

Our client is a leading precision engineering specialist, certified to AS9100 and BS EN ISO9001, providing high-quality machined components to various industries, including aerospace, defence, marine, automotive, oil & gas, space, and telecommunications.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will act as the quality shopfloor development engineer, ensuring a robust and repeatable engineering method is followed, and be responsible for process quality inspection checks. They will develop process-driven operator inspection checks to improve throughput and reduce internal quality issues.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support shopfloor quality process dimensional measurements.
  2. Learn and train in current manufacturing methods and processes to gain understanding of products and support future development.
  3. Develop process-driven operator inspection checks.
Reporting and Control
  1. Support the manufacturing team with recording and analysis of production data.
  2. Report KPI metrics to control inspection bottlenecks and throughput.
  3. Report KPI metrics for internal non-conformance and scrap analysis.
  4. Analyze and report rework.
  5. Drive a whole-team approach to quality, ensuring everyone is responsible for the quality of work delivered to the next operation and final customer deliveries.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering or manufacturing-based qualification and a CMM Programming course qualification would be an advantage. They should have a good understanding of all inspection processes, including manual and automatic measurement techniques.
