About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented GP Assistant to join our team at the UEA Medical Centre. As a key member of our administrative team, you will play a vital role in supporting our doctors and clinical staff in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process all incoming and outgoing correspondence, including clinical and non-clinical documents, emails, and phone calls.
  • Audio typing clinical referrals, medical reports, and other documents as required.
  • Deal with and troubleshoot queries from doctors and other staff members using various communication systems.
  • Liaise with patients, hospital secretaries, and out-patient services regarding consultant appointments.
  • Manage and process medical reports, logging requests, preparing dictated reports, and invoices.
  • Book and monitor appointments for all UMS consultant referrals on the national electronic booking system.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of all verbal and written communication within organizational systems.
  • Liaise with the UEA and Student Services, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Coding medical records and assisting with patient registration.
  • Use your initiative to resolve queries and make phone calls to outside agencies when necessary.
  • Manage and process university medical certificates and redact medical records as required.
  • Chase unpaid fees and maintain internal and external telephone lists and contact details.
  • Contribute to the development of systems within the office to support clinical and administrative staff.

Person Specification

Essential

  • 5 GCSEs/O Levels at Grade C or above (including Maths & English).
  • Office administration experience.
  • Excellent keyboard skills.
  • Experience dealing with public.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation.
